Hello there! I’m Kiki and I’m a travel addict from Ottawa, Canada. I’m your average citizen with a classic 9 to 5 type of job by day, and travel blogger by night (cape and all).
Why I blog?
I originally started a blog to keep family and friends up to date on my travels and to easily share photos on the road that didn’t require them to open an account (seriously, you did not have to walk my dad through signing up for Pinterest).
I had a lot of fun doing it (and still do!) and out of nowhere, people I’d never met or heard of started reading and following my blog. Then they started e-mailing me and asking me questions about travel tips or recommendations. I really enjoyed chatting with readers who then became friends, sharing information and learning from them. And in some cases, meeting up with them and having them as my tour guide in their home city or returning the favour when they visited Canada because we have a mutual love of travel.
So now I’m embarking on a blogging adventure to share stories and information with other travel addicts or those dreaming about taking their trip for the first time.
I want you to love travelling, photography and languages as much as I do. And if I’ve been able to help you plan your next adventure, share a helpful tip, or make you laugh about the silly things that happen when travelling, then all the better!
How do I travel?
I usually explore the world solo as it lets me do what I want, when I want and I don’t have to worry about whether or not someone is having a good time (that and because I don’t have friends who like to travel the way I do).
At least once a year, I visit one country for 4-6 weeks and every 5 years I take three months off work to travel (because I have the most awesome and understanding boss ever). During the three month trips, I tend to visit more faraway places (i.e.: places where the flight is 10 hours or more).
Where am I going next?
2017 is the year I explore all the wonderful things that Bolivia has to offer.
Where did I just come back from?
2016 was a big travel year where I spent three months travelling around Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Malaysia.
Need more info?
How about a list of random things that I love: my two ridiculously furry cats (Liam and Penelope), Sherlock, spaghetti, reading, photography, adventure, music, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup (King Size due to its excellent ratio of chocolate to peanut butter), languages, hiking, cooking, art, museums, and history. So…basically all of the things.
